![]() from there i would start looking at the VPN installation/config and make sure the laptop's AD object and permissions are good, make sure his laptop isn't infected with anything, etc. Please check, that domain user is listed in administrator group of that machine where you are trying to install. if it works this confirms his account is OK, SQL is OK, and his laptop is the problem. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. Within the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio in the object explorer: Right click on the server and click Properties. ![]() once you have confirmed you have a working machine, login as his account and test SQL across the VPN. SQL SERVER ERROR: Cannot connect to MSSQL Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with integrated authentication. Description:Unknown SQL Exception 18452 occurred. I am trying to connect to SQL server 'A' using SSMS on domain 'B', but getting this error. ![]() i am thinking the SQL errors are a symptom of another issue, not the main problemĪ sure fire way to confirm this would be take a laptop and test as you or a known functional account to make sure that machine can connect across the VPN as expected. I have two SQL Servers on different domains. this kinda rules out the SQL server itself - if it was a SQL issue i would imagine others would be having the same problems. This sounds more like a machine and/or VPN client/config issue to me, especially since multiple accounts aren't working from his laptop (i assume the other account you tested with works otherwise) and other devs can connect to these instances using the same method. ![]()
